With glue down Karndean flooring, you have to have a fully prepared subfloor, which we would always recommend you employ the services of an expert fitter to do. The subfloor must be perfectly flat and dry before you start your installation of any of the glue down products on offer here. Once the subfloor has been completed, you can start the installation itself, applying the recommended Karndean adhesive to the subfloor before laying each plank or tile on top, gluing each one into place.

With this however also comes the most extensive range of colours, shades and styles. Whether you’re looking for tiles which effortlessly replicate natural stone, or you’re looking for more traditional wood effects found across much of the Karndean glue down vinyl plank flooring range, there’s something for all tastes and style preferences. Many of the products in this range also include features such as textured embossing or bevelled edges on each plank to add to the authenticity, giving you a more natural looking floor.

The Karndean ranges which use the glue down method are all waterproof, making them ideal for use in areas which are regularly exposed to moisture such as kitchens, bathrooms and utility rooms, but of course you can lay any of the Karndean glue down flooring options in any room of your choosing. When it comes to upkeep, semi-regular sweeping will keep the surface free of loose dirt, with the occasional mop helping to ensure that your new floor lasts for years to come!

Finally, Best at Flooring is a Karndean Approved Online Retailer, one of just two in the United Kingdom. This means that most importantly, you’re buying from a source which is trusted by the brand themselves, but it also means that we’re on hand to offer expert advice and guidance, we can order stock directly from Karndean should we not have the required quantity in our warehouse, and you are also able to benefit from the Karndean Transferable Purchase Guarantee.

FAQS about Karndean Glue Down flooring

We’re often asked, which is better, LooseLay or Glue Down, but put simply, there’s no clear answer. This purely depends on your preferences as both have their merits. If you want to have the option of different laying patterns, mix styles and you have a professionally prepared subfloor, then Glue Down is a great option. With a LooseLay product, these are much easier to install as a temporary measure with little attention required to the subfloor. Plus, there’s no need to leave expansion gaps when you lay it.

Similarly to the question about LooseLay vs Glue Down, people are often keen to ask us about the differences between Rigid Core and Glue Down. Ultimately, the key difference between the two is the installation method, with Rigid Core using a click method where each tile or plank simply snaps together without the need for adhesive. This means Rigid Core is quicker and easier to fit, making it a more ideal solution for DIY projects.

In general the thickness of Karndean Glue Down flooring is between 2mm and 3mm, but this varies depending on the range you’re looking at.
