Hand Scraped Engineered Wood Flooring

As the name suggests, hand scraped engineered wood flooring planks are sawn and treated by hand, which includes the scraping away of imperfections in the natural material. This leads to an uneven, irregular and more natural looking floor covering as no two planks are the same.

The hand scraping process is often combined with another finish such as brushing, which adds a wonderful texture to the boards, and is usually finished with an oil to give it some protection against the elements and everyday foot traffic. Traditionally we only stock oak products with this finish, however from time to time we do get other species in.

Of course, like the vast majority of engineered wood flooring products, you can use engineered hand scraped floors in partnership with underfloor heating systems to create a warm, cosy environment which you really won’t want to leave!

When it comes to maintenance, your hand scraped flooring will need a regular sweep or dry-mop to ensure it remains in the best condition possible. Occasionally, a well-wrung out mop would also be beneficial, provided it is dried quickly so that moisture doesn’t get into the boards and cause damage.
