Why choose laminate flooring?

There are many reasons to choose laminate flooring, including how cost effective it is, the number of styles, patterns and effects available and its versatility. As we mention below, quality laminate flooring doesn’t have to be expensive, with prices typically dependent on the thickness and quality of the boards in use. When combined with the number of styles, patterns and effects on offer, this means you can get a realistic wood effect laminate floor for the fraction of the price of a solid or engineered floor – great if you’re renovating on a budget!

Where can you fit laminate?

Laminate flooring can be installed almost anywhere throughout your home, with it being most popular for high footfall areas such as hallways and living spaces. Generally, most laminate plank flooring can’t be used in spaces where there is high exposure to moisture such as kitchens and bathrooms as the majority is only water-resistant rather than fully waterproof. However, some manufacturers do have a range of fully waterproof options, with modern Quick-Step laminate coming with their HydroSeal technology which makes their products waterproof.

Laminate wood flooring is an incredibly popular choice for areas equipped with underfloor heating systems. With no risk of the boards warping under changes and its hard-wearing nature, the vast majority of laminate floors are compatible with underfloor heating.

How much does laminate flooring cost?

One of the great things about laminate flooring is that it’s one of the cheaper flooring options, with our range costing anywhere between a bargain price of £8.95 per square metre to £39.95 per square metre for some luxury laminate flooring from the Quick-Step Majestic collection for example. When it comes to the price of laminate, generally the thinner the board, the cheaper the product, so a 5mm or 6mm thick product will be significantly cheaper than a 12mm thick option.

How do I clean and maintain my laminate floor?

As you may expect, laminate is extremely easy to clean and maintain, making it ideal for a busy household. A daily sweep or vacuum (using the hard floor attachment) will be enough to take care of general dirt and dust. You can wash your laminate flooring with a well wrung out mop to ensure it always shines and sparkles with cleanliness, but be careful not to leave puddles as it could potentially damage the floor, depending on the brand and quality of the laminate.
